Studio Policies

Dress Code

  • Baggy clothing (sweatshirts and sweatpants) is not allowed in class. In order to ensure proper instruction and technique, the teacher needs to be able to see how the student’s body moves, so fitted clothing is required.

  • If female students choose to wear something other than leggings or capris, tights are required.

  • Male students are asked to wear athletic shorts/pants and a fitted shirt.

  • Students with long hair will be asked to have it pulled back and out of their faces during class (including bangs) so that they can see and dance safely during class.

  • For the safety of the students, socks are not permitted to be worn in place of shoes during class. To prevent slips and falls, if students do not have their dance shoes with them, they’ll be asked to go barefoot.

Classroom Etiquette

  • Cell phones are not permitted in the classroom. If you need to get ahold of your student during class, please call the studio.

  • Smart watches are allowed to be worn for tracking exercise purposes only. If they become a distraction, students will be asked to put them in their bags.

  • We all learn at different paces, so it’s crucial that we show our fellow dancers patience, encouragement, and respect. On a personal level, we should always try our best, because improvement comes from practice.

  • Respect for the teachers is imperative. Dance teachers put in extra hours inside and outside of the classroom to be prepared for their students, so that they have the best experience possible. Please refrain from talking while the teacher is talking, arrive on time, stay for the entire class, and focus on the task at hand during class.

  • Please use the bathroom before class, so that you can be present for the entire class.

Make-Up Classes

Classes are paid for regardless of attendance, but students who miss lessons are invited to attend a separate class *during the month they miss* to either participate in or observe. However, students are encouraged to attend their assigned classes as often as possible to ensure that they know the choreography for their routine, and that they're learning the proper skills for their age group and abilities. If your child would like to make up a class, please reach out to Jaslyn to find an appropriate lesson to attend.

Class Viewing

Some children do not perform well when their parents are in the room, so we ask that parents please remain in the waiting room during class times. If/when the teachers and students are ready, guests will be invited in to watch the routine. We also have an observation tv in the waiting room that can be turned on to view the class.

Waiting Room Etiquette

  • Please do not interrupt classes that are in session. If you need to speak to a staff member, you're encouraged to speak with whoever is working the front desk and he/she will determine next steps.

  • Be mindful of our studio - if you have food or drinks, please take care of your trash and clean up any spills.

  • We ask that you please refrain from any yelling, cursing, or gossiping.

  • If you bring other children to wait with you, please supervise them so that they are safe and classes are not interrupted.

  • For privacy purposes regarding people’s accounts, children and parents are not allowed behind the desk – if you need something, please ask a staff member.

Tardiness

We begin each lesson with a warm up, which is very important for dancers and their bodies. It is important to make sure your child arrives to class on time, but if they are late, they may be asked to warm up on their own before they join the rest of the class.

Class Cancellations

We follow Boone Schools when it comes to canceling due to inclement weather. For instance, if the schools get out early or are canceled due to snow, temperatures, wind, etc. we will cancel classes for that evening. In the event of a cancellation, the teacher will determine if classes need to be made up, in which case a make-up day will be scheduled. In the event that classes are not made up, refunds will not be issued. Please see our policy on make-up classes for more information.

Payment

We accept payment for services via cash, check or credit card.

  • If you pay with a check and it’s returned to us from the bank, you’ll be charged a $35 returned check fee.

  • If you pay via credit card, you’ll be charged a 3% service fee.
