Mary Jo Mentzer's Farewell Letter

To my Dancing Families,

As seasons change and life passes on, I have had many reflections to cherish….

I have now deemed it necessary to step back from the weekly process of dance education and “Pass the Torch of Fine Arts In Motion” to former student and graduate, Mrs. Jaslyn Clark Reinsel.

Jaslyn was a teacher here during her college years, after assisting with many classes while

growing up. After graduating, accepting a job with “Land O Lakes”, getting married to her

(very supportive of this new journey) husband (Cody), and purchasing an acreage in Boone, she has returned to where her heart lies, and has resumed her love of dance. Outside of work, she is a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she teaches Sunday School and serves on their school board, raises pigs, gardens, sews, reads, cooks/bakes, and loves spending time with her friends and family – including her two dogs, Spike (German Shepherd) and Toby (mixed cow dog). Jaslyn is excited to begin her adventure with the studio, carrying on Mary Jo’s legacy of a family-friendly studio where everyone feels at home. She is looking forward to continuing to encourage students to be their best, both inside and outside of the studio – as well as getting to know each of you and your families better. You can reach Jaslyn via phone (515-298-3296) or email (jaslynclark@gmail.com).

I will resume on the Board of Directors for the National Dance Masters of America and remain a Nationally Certified Examiner for the organization. Lending a hand where needed in the studio’s art education will remain a top priority, as embracing time with my children and grandchildren scattered throughout the U.S.:

  • #1 Daniel, is an optometrist at Updegraff LASIK clinic in St. Petersburg, FL. He resides there with his wife, two sons, three daughters, 1 in-law, and 1 grandson

  • #2 David, is an aviation engineer in Wichita, KS. His family includes his wife and two dancing daughters…

  • #3 Ashly, is residing in Atlanta, GA. with his wife, 1 daughter, and 1 son. After several tours to the Mid-East, recently flying military VIP’s to and from various bases throughout the United States, he has now submitted his retirement with the Army National Guard. Currently he is flying Commercial Airlines.

  • #4 My two step-daughters; Jodi and Jina; live in Wichita and Dallas, TX with their spouses, 4 children, 2 in-laws, and 4 grandchildren…..

Needless to say I have some making up to do!!!!

My love and prayers go out to each and every dance student I have ever had the privilege of meeting or working with. I have treasured our many moments together and hope your dance training has served you richly and with grace in your lives!

With the last 2 weeks upon us for our “44th Annual Recital”, I encourage and look forward to

continued energy, hard work, and the “Time of Our Life”!!

With God’s guidance.…

Forever Dancing,

Mary Jo
